DAVID RAEY RELEASES “a lo lejos SE VE”: A NOSTALGIC JOURNEY TO COLOMBIAN TROPICAL ROOTS

Colombian singer-songwriter and producer David Raey announces the release of his highly anticipated album “A Lo Lejos Se Ve”, available on all digital platforms September 1, 2025. This independent project celebrates the essence of traditional Colombian music through a fresh, urban, and handcrafted lens.

Born in the United States but raised in Colombia, 22-year-old David Raey channels the nostalgia of distance from his homeland into this album, reviving the sounds that marked his childhood: festive December melodies, creole guitars, and the traditional rhythms that unite Latin families during the holidays. “A Lo Lejos Se Ve” is not only a tribute to his roots—it’s also a message of introspection: appreciating what we hold close, letting go of what no longer serves us, and daring to begin anew.

The Creative Process

Raey was the sonic architect of the project, carefully crafting everything from chord progressions, guitars, basslines, and traditional percussion (“palos”) to the lyrics and overall narrative. “It’s music made by hand,” he affirms—an artisanal approach that defines his artistic identity.

Latin Grammy Award–winning engineer and producer Migs in the Mix lent his expertise, ensuring a sound that feels both authentic and timeless. Renowned collaborators—including Salvador, FrayFbe, Boris Silva, Rey Santana, and Kmlo—contributed to production and mixing. Engineers NOLO, Kmlo, and Pamela Vélez played fundamental roles in the mixing and mastering process, bringing clarity and depth to the final sound.

Key Collaboration

A highlight of the album is the lead single “Pa’l Mundo Entero”, a modern salsa that portrays the dreams and struggles of today’s musicians. The track was co-created with SP Polanco, who also served as the project’s musical director.

The single’s rich sonic palette comes alive thanks to Lucho Bravo, master trumpeter and executive producer, who guided the track’s percussive identity, and Lucho Insuasty, a young trumpeter from Nariño, who recorded the horn sections from Colombia. The fact that Raey, Bravo, and Insuasty all hail from Nariño adds a deeply personal layer to the project, weaving shared roots into its emotional fabric.

With “A Lo Lejos Se Ve”, David Raey turns a page in his career—moving from a primarily urban-pop sound to a body of work centered on hands, strings, wood, and soul. The result is a bold balance between authenticity and modernity, designed to reconnect with the roots of Latin music.
